Law Conference Cycle

European Competition Law Tuesdays

Seminars that scrutinise various aspects of European Commission policy in the field of competition law, led by high quality professionals from the European institutions and the biggest law firms specialising in this area.

For over 30 years, the Institut d'Etudes Européennes has been organising a retraining programme on Community law for anyone with an interest in issues relating to the development of the ‘acquis communautaire’.

Originally organised by Professor Michel Waelbroeck and now by Professors Jean-François Bellis and Denis Waelbroeck, European Competition Law Tuesdays are a forum for discussion focused on the interventions of different experts.

You can find the programme of the seminars for the current academic year as well as practical information and details of the registration process below.

Law tasters

Lawyers from the IEE-ULB have set up a series of lectures since December 2009 called ‘Les Apéros du Droit européen’ [European law tasters].

This series of lectures has two aims. It is about both adding value to research done in the legal sphere of the IEE by giving them visibility and allowing other speakers from, in particular the academic world, the European institutions and civil society, to set out their different positions.

The format chosen consists of regularly organizing a lecture allowing two speakers to present their points of view on a theme of European law in the early part of the evening (from 6pm until 8pm). Following the exposés, the second hour is devoted to debate to allow broad exchanges of views with the audience. All of this is managed by a moderator. Afterwards, the conversations can continue more informally around a drink during the apéritif after the debate.

The audience targeted by these lectures is both the university community (academic staff, scientific staff and students) and professional circles (European institutions, NGOs, lawyers, magistrates etc.) and citizens interested in European issues.

To be kept up to date about the upcoming Apéros du Droit, you can subscribe to our distribution list (name, first name, job title, institution, email) by contacting Françoise Vanden Broeck

Alternatively, feel free to go to the Evènements section of the IEE.
