Emmanuelle Bribosia is a full-time professor in European law and fundamental rights at the ULB (Faculty of Law and Institute of European Studies). She is director of the Centre for European Law and coordinates the Master of Specialisation in European Law.
Anne Weyembergh is a full-time professor at the ULB (Faculty of Law and Institute of European Studies). She also chairs the Institute of European Studies.
In the current context, marked by the multiplication of terrorist attacks and the threat that accompanies them, the need to find a fair balance between the “security” pole (fight against impunity) and the “freedom” pole (protection of fundamental rights) is particularly acute. This tension, particularly highlighted by recent events, permeates criminal law at all levels, including European criminal law.
