His diverse academic background includes a Master’s degree in Political Science from the Central European University, Budapest, Hungary (2020) and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Mandaly, Birmania, (2017).
Mr. Hein Htet will be at the IEE-ULB from 3 May to 30 June 2023. Professor François Foret will supervise his research stay.
His research at the IEE-ULB
The title of Mr. Hein Htet’s doctoral thesis is “Mutation or reproduction? : The decision-making process of the European single market through the prism of steel and financial services (1951-2020)”. The research aims to examine how the decision-making process for the single market has evolved over time, particularly in the steel and financial services sectors in the European Union, and more specifically in France and Italy. He will be examining these dynamics through the lenses of liberal intergovernmentalism, new intergovernmentalism, constructivism and historical institutionalism.
During his research stay, Mr. Hein Htet will also analyze how interactions between businesses, interest groups, governments, and European institutions contribute to the integration of the EU’s single market using process-tracing and comparative qualitative analysis.
